Agilent E1482B VXlbus Extender

The Agilent E1482B VXIbus Extender provides an interface for the external MXIbus controller, transparent interrupts and TTL triggering, VXI plug and play compatible interface, multiple VXIbus mainframe that appears as a single system and provides timing and triggering to external devices/mainframes. The E1482B VXIbus Extender is a C-size, 1-slot, register-based VXI module. It associates the user’s outside controller of the VXI backplane through the MXIbus interface (E1489C). The extender is utilized to make multiple mainframe frameworks for embedded controller applications. When utilized with outer workstation controllers, the VXI extender plugs into slot 0 of the mainframe and will be associated through the MXIbus controller link of the EISA/ISA-to-MXIbus interface (E1489C) in the HP-UX controller. For various VXI mainframe systems, one VXIbus extender module may be introduced under each mainframe and these are linked through MXIbus cables in a daisy-chain setup.

The interrupt and reset signals are extended for standard MXIbus transceivers. These transceivers produce exact trapezoidal waveforms with ordinary rise times for nine nanoseconds. The trapezoidal state lessens crosstalk between contiguous signals. The receivers have built-in low pass filters to remove noise. Furthermore, a high speed comparator distinguishes the trapezoidal formed signals from noise. The MXIbus specifies a maximum of 8 units on one link, with total cable lengths up to 20 meters and data rates up to 20Mbytes/sec.
