Agilent E1442A General-Purpose Switch

The Agilent E1442A is a Form C, 64-Channel Switch Module. This model is a C-size, Register Based slave device that can operate in any VMEbus mainframe or a C-Size VXIbus mainframe. This switch is the firmware running in the command module of the E1406. This firmware is the instrument driver designed to provide a standard command for programmable instruments’ programming capability.  Programming the Agilent E1442A can be achieved by utilizing the command modules via SCPI or using direct register access – an option which is known as register-based programming.

The Agilent E1442A consists of a component and a terminal module. User inputs are connected to the Form C switch Normally Open (NO), Normally Closed (NC), and Common (C) terminal connections on one of the three modules available. When contact is made between the NC contact and C, a switch (relay) is open. A switch is closed when contact is formed between the NO contact and C contact. At one time, any combination of open or closed states is permitted.

With this module, the user can set interrupt priority to enable the interrupts after an SYSRESET, at power-up, or after having the module reset via the control register. In its factory configuration, the Agilent E1442A comes with its interrupt priority jumper set in position 1. This level can be readjusted or even turned off with the help of the priority jumper provided. This model also contains internal buses to which the user is allowed to connect any channel contact.
