Agilent E1421B VXI Mainframe

The E1421B C-Size VXI Mainframe created by Agilent offers features, such as a small size, economical cost, dependability, six slots, pressurized air channel cooling, and the capability to be rack-mounted or easily transportable. This VXI follows the VXIbus requirement by offering injector surface rails utilized by the QUIC simple module insertion and extraction system. The backplane on the E1421B has solid state programmed daisy-chain jumpering for the VMEbus grant and interrupt acknowledge lines, which eradicates the necessity for selecting switch conditions by hand. 

One of the features of the Agilent E1421B VXI that differs from former mainframes is the improved airflow. This model provides all six slots with sufficient air to cool 60 Watts, while sustaining a 10 degrees Celsius rise throughout a normally solid module. The E1421B VXI Mainframe contains a fan chamber with a single circulation fan. The fan speed is determined by the ambient temperature of the air pulled into the E1421B Mainframe. Another fan cools the power supply. This second fan is mounted on the right portion of the mainframe beside the power supply.

There are three rack mount options for the Agilent E1421B VXI Mainframe. Option 908 consists of flush mount flanges and hardware created to flush mount the mainframe. Next, Option 916 contains the flanges included with Option 908, along with a recess rack mount bracket and necessary hardware. The third choice is Option 909, which included flanges and a pair of front mount handles. Both Option 908 and 909 can be used with rack slide and rail kits, but Option 916 cannot be used with them.
