Agilent PSA E4440A

The Agilent PSA E4440A is a Spectrum Analyzer created to assist with EMI Precompliance, flexible digital modulation analysis, MATLAB, Noise Figure, Phase Noise, Pulse, and Stimulus Response. The Agilent PSA E4440A is equipped with 16 easy-to-use measurement capabilities and hardware options. The E4440A model has a frequency range between 3 Hz to 26.5 GHz (DC coupled) and 10 MHz to 26.5 GHz (AC coupled). This spectrum analyzer has +/-0.19 dB of absolute amplitude accuracy, -155 dBm DANL, -118 dBv/Hz phase noise at 10 KHz offset and 81 db W-CDMA ACLR dynamic ranges. The analysis bandwidth in this Series is available about a center frequency over which the input signal can be digitized for further analysis or processing in the time, frequency, or modulation domain. E4440A has an Analysis Bandwidth with Option 140 of 40 MHz, with Option 122 of 80 MHz and with Option B7J with 10 MHz.

This Spectrum Analyzer has a variety of additional features. These options include: a rack mount kit, enhanced memory upgrade, and an APC 3.5 Input Connector, which replaces the standard type-N female connector and is only available for the E4440A model.

In the PSA Series, the product needs to be energized through an external auto transformer for voltage reduction. The common terminal needs to be connected to a neutral (earthed pole) of the power supply. Before connecting anything to the analyzer, you should press the power switch and wait two minutes to complete the start-up routine; an information screen will appear during the initialization process and will contain the analyzer product number and URL for accessing product support.

The only physical installation of your Agilent Spectrum Analyzer is a connection to a power source (line voltage does not need to be selected). The power requirements for this product are 100 to 120 Vrms.

Frequently Asked Questions

Question:

How do I remove signal images from the display of the PSA Series Spectrum Analyzer E4440A?

Answer:

The E4440A Spectrum Analyzer uses a signal identification process known as image suppression. Image suppression removes the images from the display.

Question:

How can I measure the Channel Power of my signal on a PSA with the Max Hold function on?

Answer:

The Band Power marker function can be used to perform this function.

Question:

What causes the “Final IF Overload” message and how do I fix this?

Answer:

This message appears when the Final IF is overloaded. It occurs at a mixer level of > -8 dBm.

Question:

How do I recover my PSA Spectrum Analyzer after a secure erase memory sanitization?

Answer:

A secure erase memory sanitization deletes the user writable instrument memory. This means that firmware and measurement personalities must be reinstalled.

Question:

What transit case do I order for my PSA Series Spectrum Analyzer?

Answer:

The transit case can be ordered as E4440AU Option HS6.
