Agilent PSA E4446A
The Agilent PSA Series offer high-performance spectrum analysis, up to 50 GHz, with powerful one-button measurements, a versatile feature set and a leading-edge combination of flexibility, speed, accuracy and dynamic range -this series also includes a 40/80 MHz Analysis Bandwidth. From millimeter wave and phase noise measurements to spur searches and modulation analysis, the PSA Series offers unique and comprehensive high-performance solutions for a lot of areas. A few of the other measurement personalities that are available for the Agilent PSA Series are the GSM/EDGE Measurement Personality, the W-CDMA Measurement Personality, the HSDPA/HSUPA Measurement Personality, and the cdmaOne Measurement Personality.
The model E4446A has a frequency range between 3 Hz to 44 GHz (DC coupled) and a frequency span of 0Hz, 10 Hz to 44 GHz. The calibration accuracy of this model depends on how accurately the frequency standard was adjusted to 10 MHz. If the calibration procedure is followed, the calibration accuracy is given by the specification "Achievable Initial Calibration Accuracy"; this specification only applies when the power is disconnected from the instrument. If the instrument is in standby mode, it doesn’t work. The Achievable Calibration Accuracy at the beginning of the calibration cycle includes a long list of effects, the most important ones are: the temperature difference between the calibration environment and the use environment, the orientation relative to the gravitation field changing between the calibration environment and the use environment, retrace effects in both the calibration environment and the use environment due to unplugging the instrument, and settability.
The power requirements for this product are standard 100/120 V (low range) and 220/240 (high range). The maximum power consumption is 250 W.

Frequently Asked Questions
Question:
Why aren’t all the Personality Options loaded in memory?
Answer:
There may not be enough memory to accommodate all the options. If so, you can upgrade your hardware to have more memory.
Question:
Can I protect my PSA from DC voltages at the input RF port?
Answer:
This can be accomplished by adding a DC block or a limiter with DC block.
Question:
For the PSA Series Spectrum Analyzer, do I need to have option 212 installed before I can install option 213?
Answer:
Yes, option 213 requires option 212 to be installed.
Question:
Can I make spectrum analysis measurements on signals above 50GHz using a PSA Series Spectrum Analyzer?
Answer:
The PSA Series offers an option (AYZ), which will allow the use of external millimeter harmonic mixers.
Question:
Is an LO amplifier required if I want to make external mixer measurements with my PSA Series Spectrum Analyzer?
Answer:
No, it is not required.
