HP 8542E EMI Receiver

The HP 8542E is a 9 kHz to 2.9 GHz EMI Test Receiver. This instrument makes CISPR-based EMI measurements with remarkable accuracy, ease of use, and speed. It is entirely compatible with the CISPR 16-1 and can also be used to verify conformance to almost any civilian EM I standard, including but not limited to, the FCC, VCCI, VDE, and EN. The HP 8542E works with HP`s PC-based EMI measurement program to create a powerful and easy-to-use automated solution for conducted emission and commercial radiated testing. It comes with a built-in PC format friendly floppy disk drive that can be used for the storage and secure transportation of test and data files.

 This model is comprised of two separate sections. The receiver RF section can be acquired separately as a standalone pre-compliance tester. The RF filter section can be added later for the formation of a complete EMI compliance receiver. The HP 8542E provides three tuning modules, which includes: stepped, manual, and scanning in log or linear format. This EMI test receiver can perform simultaneous measurements of average, peak, and quasi-peak amplitude. This model also features an automatic antenna, along with cable correction that can be used for direct and quick comparison of the measured values to limits.

This model additionally comes with two integrated communication interfaces: GPIB and RS-232. For Bands 1, 2, and 3, the HP 8542E offers tuning ranges of 9 kHz to 50 MHz, 20 MHz to 2.9 GHz, and 1 GHz to 6.5 GHz respectively. With this model, the user can quickly acquire hard copies of the measurement results without any involvement of their PC.
