Keysight E4424B Analog RF Signal Generator

The Keysight E4424B is a 2 GHz, Analog RF Signal Generator from the ESG-AP Series. It comes featured with comprehensive analog modulation capabilities, including phase, pulse, AM, and FM modulation. This model has an incorporated function generator, superior level accuracy, and offers step sweep functionality (power, frequency, and list). The ESG-AP series instruments are known for their high spectral purity. The Keysight E4424B provides < 65 ms switching speed with modulation on and < 55 ms with modulation off. The phase offset can easily be adjusted in nominal 0.1° increments via the front panel or GPIB.

This model offers exceptional stability characteristics. The internal reference oscillator is designed to operate with an aging rate of just < ±0.1 ppm/yr. It can handle an external reference input at 1, 2, 5, or 10 MHz frequency, > 0.15 Vrms amplitude, and 50 Ω input impedance. This model also offers < –123 dBc/Hz, (< –127 dBc/Hz) SSB phase noise (at 20 kHz offset). In CW mode, it operates with 0.3 to 3 kHz BW residual noise.

The Keysight E4424B comes with a GPIB port (RS-232, IEEE-488.2-1987) with listen and talk functions and can be used for communication with compatible devices. The Keysight E4424B generates an output voltage of 0 to +10 V while sweeping. The sweep output ((BNC, rear panel) can drive 2000 ohms at an output impedance < 1 ohm. The trigger output outputs a TTL signal - high or low, according to the state of the instrument. This instrument is compatible with the SCPI version 1992.0 control language.
