The Keysight E3649A DC Power Supply weighs 9.1 Kg, has 230 VAC ±10%, 47-63 Hz, overvoltage protection, dimensions of 213 x 133 x 348mm, a Range 1 with a voltage between 0 to 34 V and a current of 14 A, and a Range 2 with 6 V and 0.8 A.

The E3649A incorporates front panel binding posts that allow the user to associate the charging wires for bench operation and in parallel with the back panel + and – connections. The front panel and the back panel terminals are optimized for noise, regulation, and transients.

To fulfil safety requirements, load cables should be heavy enough to not overheat when carrying the maximum short-circuit output current of the power supply. If by chance there are numerous loads, then any pair of load cables should be capable of safely carrying the full rated current of the instrument. In this model, a long load capacitor could cause the power supply to cross into CC or unregulated mode for a short period of time, while the output voltage is reprogrammed. The slew rate of the output voltage will be limited to the current setting divided by the load capacitance.

This instrument also includes a Pulse Loading application. With this application, the load current changes periodically from a minimum to a maximum value (the constant current circuits limit the output).
