Keysight 8780A Vector Signal Generator

Featured with 10 MHz to 3 GHz range, the 8780A is a Vector Signal Generator from Keysight. This model offers pulse modulation with as low as 1 ns rise times and 700 MHz modulation bandwidth. Moreover, it also has a wideband FM capability for greater than 200 MHz p-p deviations. This synthesized IF source comes with tremendous modulation capabilities for modern components and especially modern receiver testing. The HP 8780A is a robust model with around 100 times wider modulation bandwidths than previous models. To simplify the generation of various common digital modulation formats, this model comes with an internal mapping feature.

The addition of an unmodulated coherent carrier output complements the wideband modulation of this Vector Signal Generator for test signal demodulation. This model can provide a wide range of modulation using both analog and digital inputs. It tends to generate a broad range of modulation formats like 16 QAM and QPSK and other traditional modulation formats, such as AM, FM, and pulse.

The HP 8780A Vector Signal Generator is an ideal choice for receiver measurements where complex or wideband modulations are required. Moreover, this model can also be used as a transmitter to test and verify state-of-the-art radar EW receivers or other communication receivers through vector I/Q modulation functions. This model can be up-converted for applications where receivers operate at greater than 4 GHz frequencies. For satellite telemetry, an optional analog phase modulator compatible with the Keysight 8780A is also available in the market.
