HP Agilent Keysight 8594E Portable Spectrum Analyzer
The HP Agilent Keysight 8594E Portable Spectrum Analyzer is ideal for applications such as: component tests, electromagnetic compatibility, cable TV/broadcast, lightwave, and wireless communications. Other features of this model include a split screen display, built-in tracking generator, dual interfaces, one-button measurements, and a four slot cardcage. The 8594E is the best solution for scalar network testing and spectrum analysis.
The 8594E Portable Spectrum Analyzer has a dc-coupled frequency range of 9 kHz to 2.9 GHz, an ac-coupled frequency range of 100 kHz to 2.9 GHz, and 3 dB or 6 dB bandwidth. One-button measurements allow the user to choose a bandwidth of 3 dB, 6 dB, or any other bandwidth they would like. The bandwidth, insertion loss, Q, and center frequency are then shown. Measurement outcomes are saved after every sweep, which is helpful when adjusting devices in real-time.
This model also has a 120 dB display. The expansive dynamic range is helpful while measuring switch isolation and filter rejection. The 8594E can have the 85714A scalar measurements personality or the 85630A scalar transmission/reflection test set added, along with an optional built-in tracking generator. Test time can be decreased and efficiency improved by programming the 8594E Portable Spectrum Analyzer for certain tests. These measurement features are programmable through the RS-232 or HP-IB interfaces, along with all front-panel functions.
The 8594E Portable Spectrum Analyzer can change data to readout in transmission coefficient, reflection coefficient, VSWR, and insertion loss/gain. Data can be shown with onscreen traces or markers. Marker measurements change the marker value to the chosen units and show the outcome on the display screen.

HP Agilent Keysight 8594E Portable Spectrum Analyzer- FAQ:
Question:
Am I able to use 11970 or 119744 Series external mixers with my Keysight 8594E Spectrum Analyzer?
Answer:
No, this is not possible. The 859x series does not have an IF Input, which is needed for external mixing.
Question:
How many internal states can the 8594E store?
Answer:
The 8594E can store a maximum of eight states and 50 traces. More states can be saved with a memory card.
Question:
What does it mean when the 8594E Spectrum Analyzer shows the “Oven Cold” message?
Answer:
This message has to do with Oven References, Option 004. There is not a temperature sensing device or thermocouple for the Oven Reference in the 8590 series. “Oven Cold” will show on the display for approximately five minutes after the instrument power is cycled.
Question:
Why was there a MAIN COIL SENSE FAIL while the internal frequency self-calibration was being performed on the 8594E Spectrum Analyzer?
Answer:
The failure happens while the main coil of the 1st LO or YTO was being calibrated. This is most likely triggered by the A7 analog board, which runs the tuning circuitry for the YTO.
Question:
What is the part number for the 8594E rack mount?
Answer:
There are two options for rack mounts for the 8594E. One is the 5062-4841 rack mount without handles. The other is the 5062-4840 rack mount with handles.
